Revolution against Resolutions

December 29, 2013

I think everyone should write a blog, so it’s great to see that my girlfriend Kristin has started one. (She hasn’t quite theme’d it yet, or even named it, but we’ll work on that.)

She writes about our apparent need to set New Years Resolutions for ourselves and setting ourselves up for failure.

Despite my strong feelings about resolutions, millions of people are still going to make them every year on December 31st. If that’s your thing, then go for it! It is still important to remember that the average person is not going to lose 100 lbs. by spring break, or find a cure for cancer, however many amazing things are possible with a specific goal and (here’s the ringer) a PLAN to help you attain this goal.

Kris is a very driven, goal-oriented person. I don’t know of any New Years Resolution that she has set for herself, and I think that’s okay. It’s much more sustainable for us to set smaller, more achievable goals throughout our lives.
