Tchaikovsky on Work Ethic vs. Inspiration

“A self-respecting artist must not fold his hands on the pretext that he is not in the mood.”

Interesting. Is “just showing up and doing the work” equal to “inspiration” in the creative process?

More and more, I’m starting to think so. A book that I’ve been reading lately called Talent Is Overrated: What Really Separates World-Class Performers from Everybody Else has been attempting to scientifically prove the same thing.
