The future of Microsoft

February 5, 2014

I don’t particularly care too much about the state of Microsoft, its choice of new CEO, or its future business directions. However, I’ve been forced (by myself) to read the swarms of internet commentary on the recent appointment of Satya Nadella as new CEO simply so I can stay up-to-date on what’s going on. My favorite commentary on the whole thing came from Marco Arment, where he talks about what is, in his mind, the new Microsoft’s best move:

Instead of desperately trying (and failing) to be cool, hip, and “innovative” to consumers — a long-running flaw of Bill Gates, not just Steve Ballmer — Microsoft embraces and accepts its boringness, using it to their advantage.
