If you back a Kickstarter project that sells for $2 billion, do you deserve to get rich?

Kickstarter has said it’s not a place to buy things, and it’s not a place to invest in things — it’s a place where fans can support and connect with artists they love.

It’s an interesting thought. In hindsight, it’s easy to say, “I helped form this company, shouldn’t I get a piece of the pie?” When crowdfunding through Kickstarter though, I doubt many of us think of getting equity—we just want the product. Maybe this will make many of us think twice before “investing” in the future.
